SpaceX has completed its acquisition of Anysphere, the company behind the popular AI coding tool Cursor, in an all-stock deal valued at sixty billion dollars, first announced back in June.

Cursor shareholders received hundreds of millions of SpaceX shares in the exchange, making this the largest acquisition of a venture-backed startup to date. Cursor, founded in 2022, had scaled rapidly and reported over a billion dollars in annualized revenue before the deal closed.

The Cursor team is being folded into a new SpaceXAI division and will gain access to SpaceX's large GPU cluster, a resource well beyond what most independent AI coding startups could build on their own.

The deal is being read as SpaceX's bid to compete directly with Anthropic and OpenAI in developer tools, and it is already reshaping Cursor's existing partnerships, with OpenAI reportedly set to end model access to Cursor later this year.
