Capital F, a new all-female-led venture firm, has closed its debut fund at $17 million. Founders Margaret Coblentz and Dawn Dobras say the firm targets what they call the "female economy" – markets where women drive demand, spanning women's health, digital commerce and AI tooling. Check sizes run from roughly $250,000 to $1 million for early-stage companies.

Notably, nearly 80% of the fund's limited partners are women, a detail the founders point to as much as the portfolio itself. The firm has already backed companies including telehealth provider Hey Jane and cycle-tracking app Stardust.

Many times women aren't invited into the rooms to invest in funds.

That line from Dobras sums up the fund's pitch: building not just a portfolio of women-led companies, but a base of women investors who rarely get access to venture as an asset class in the first place.
