Canva's Melanie Perkins moves ahead on plan to give away most of her fortune
Canva CEO Melanie Perkins and co-founder Cliff Obrecht have launched the Global Goals Platform through their Canva Foundation, another step toward giving away roughly 30% of their stake in the $42 billion company.

Canva co-founder and CEO Melanie Perkins, alongside co-founder Cliff Obrecht, has launched the Global Goals Platform through the Canva Foundation. It's the latest concrete step in a long-standing pledge to eventually give away roughly 30% of their stake in Canva, a company now valued at around $42 billion.
The move comes as Canva itself is mid-pivot, repositioning from a design tool with AI features bolted on to what Perkins calls an AI platform with design layered on top – including new products like Canva Code, Canva Sheets and a mini-apps builder, alongside a string of recent acquisitions.
Founder-led giving, at scale
Perkins, who was famously turned down by around 100 investors before Canva took off, has talked openly about wanting the company's wealth to fund causes at a scale most philanthropy can't match. The Global Goals Platform is the vehicle meant to formalize and direct that giving going forward.
